Traditional candy shop. In 1867, H.J. Kouwenhoven, trader in paints, chemicals, glass and pharmaceuticals, opened a shop at Verwersdijk. Candy was the thing though. Supplier of, among other things, the ‘canal green’ colour paint that is still found on municipal buildings, the company closed down in 1985. Museum Prinsenhof bought the shop interior (1931) to furnish a candy shop. It is a place where older generations can reminisce and youngsters can experience the atmosphere of times gone by. Several nostalgic products for sale, including traditional Dutch sweets.
