First synagogue in the Netherlands, designed (1861-1862) by Jewish architect and civil engineer Leon Winkel. Neo-Classical in style, with Ionic temple front. After World War II, the building had several uses, but then fell into disrepair. Restored in 1974, it became part of the Municipal Music School. Since 1996, owned by Stichting Behoud Synagogue Delft. Nowadays, services are regularly held again. Original ark is still present. The names of Delft Jewish victims of World War II are written on the inner wall, at either side of the entrance.
