Renaissance town hall designed by Hendrick de Keyser in Dutch Renaissance style. Built in 1618-1620 around the remains of the hall which was destroyed by fire in 1618. The body, Het Steen, dates from the 13th century and was originally a prison tower used by the court. In 1436 the tower became part of the town hall and was raised with a bell tower. The old prison is still there. During 20th century restorations, the 17th-century exterior and interior were restored and adapted to modern needs.
