Louis Kalff and Johan Hanrath designed the boathouse and clubhouse area of Delft rowing club LAGA, a students’ rowing club. It is built in the style of the Amsterdam School (1925/1926). It was the first building in the Netherlands to be especially designed for rowing. The roof terrace for instance, was built on a platform, whilst the oars can be stored in the space underneath.
Characteristic are the decorative masonry, the plastic form of the building mass and the detailing of windows and door sections. The consistently applied colours of red and white are the club’s colours.
