Gunpowder warehouse (1660), built for the general defence of the Republic of the Seven United Provinces, designed by Pieter Post, in Classicist style. It includes a gatehouse, weigh-house, guardroom and two gunpowder towers standing in water. Towers were originally built without the use of iron so as to prevent the onset of sparks. Gatehouse building with magnificent sculpture above entrance. Beautiful meeting room inside, with wood-carved chimney and ceiling with decorative paintings restored in 2006.
