The church, designed by Jacques van Gils, is a mixture of neo-Roman and neo-Byzantine styles. Built between 1908-1910 as a Franciscan parish church. Later it became an independent parish church named after the Martyrs of Gorkum. The building has a cross-shaped floor plan with large central area under a brick domed vault resting on four columns and large arches. Adjoining aisles with wooden vaults. Building ceramics made by Royal Delft and decorative paintings.
Several elements from the former H. Pastoor van Arskerk have found a place here.
